SORRY for the pic spam but i'm gonna go off for a minute here
this is hands down one of my favorite russell moments
this? is what makes russell such a good villain
i'm not saying he's relatable because nobody can really relate to an Ancient vampire
but there's a certain humanity (i know) to him that makes his motives almost understandable
for somebody who's supposed to be evil and 'ins*ne' he's a very sympathetic character
russell tells pam she ''can't know'' but it's really pretty easy to try and put yourself in his shoes and see it from his perspective
n it translates really well from the screen to the audience
like he very obviously doesn't think he is a bad guy who's doing bad things.
and the emotion that we get to see from him is so SO good
and such a breath of fresh air after maryann & rene. even the newlins
all of which are fairly flat characters during s1-s2
russell is just......so complex
he's so much more than just 'ooh ancient scary powerful vampire'
he's a grieving widower. he's vengeful. he's a guy that hasn't walked in the sun for 3000 fucking years!!!!!!
idk man i just really love him & this performance & his writing
thanks tb for one of the only things u've done right
ooc.
tbd.
anyway. russell walking into the sun for the first time in millennium is The pivotal moment in his character and i love it very much
