Theo & Shelbi: in season 6, after Russell is killed by Eric, Steve is captured into the lab that Sarah has created and we see that Steve is wearing a very Romeo+Juliet aesthetic belt buckle, which is just two silver pistols and a silver heart, we see him dress and act like Russell did in season 5 when they were together in Authority, IN ONLY MERE SECONDS, Steve has displayed more a free and chaotic mood and energy that Russell too radiated, it’s in Steve’s tone and his clothes, we never get to see how Steve deals with his grief over Russell but just these 10 or so seconds when we get to see him right after Russell’s death, the writers didn’t care enough to show anything explicit when it came with Steve n Russell, it was only shown as caressing and only romantic relationship yet it was the first relationship that Steve felt like himself in and their relationship was so intense that Steve is only left to show it to other people through his appearance, his sunny aura is completely ruined, he talks in growls and is sassy, rude and scared . Steve became cynical on people because of Russell’s death and he only started to care for his own survival, oh and that belt buckle ? symbolized their violent love .
