can somebody please explain to me why the tb writers decided to bring back russell only to…..not do anything with him

im on e9 of s5 and?? it feels like the plot of the season just barely got started idk it feels like. they knew they wanted to bring back russell to kill roman but then after that they didn't know what to do with him and it also feels incredibly unrealistic that russell isn't a million times worse than he was before they buried him i understand ...... that in exchange for the 'safety' salome could provide he wasn't allowed to rip eric and bill and sookie's throats out but skdnskfkskdj. Hello. IF SOMEBODY BURNED ME AND THEN BURIED ME IN CEMENT AND LEFT ME THERE FOR A YEAR ID BE LIVID it really just doesn't make sense! s3 russell would've spit in salome's fucking face AND eric killing russell is dumb. because at that point we're so far removed from that s3 plotline that like...who cares great. eric got the revenge godric told him not to get 2 seasons ago. yay granted im biased but none of this shit makes sense they made russell out to be the big bad of the season but then his reveal happens. he kills roman. then he's just chilling until he dies great work guys 10/10 all in all: s5 russell should've been a million times more feral than he was at the end of s3 ooc. tbd. long tags /
